Whereas puberty can be an exciting time, it can also be a time when teens feel nervous or anxious. The changes of puberty do not happen at the same time for everyone, so sometimes teens feel unsure of themselves.
This activity will give you an opportunity to explore the areas of puberty that you would like more information about. So sit back, relax, and enjoy.
Puberty is often referred to as a "roller coaster ride". How can teens maintain a positive self image during this time?
During this activity, you will be checking out information on the web that is related to puberty. You will be learning proper health terms, more about physical changes during puberty, and exploring areas in which you may have some questions.
You are expected to complete the worksheet given to you by your instructor.
You will begin this webquest by reading a short article about body image. Record your notes on the worksheet.
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. You will explore three (3) of the links below.
2. Choose the three (3) links you are most interested in.
3. Note: Remember to write down the most important fact, interesting aspect, or powerful message to young people about the topic.
4. Choose 2 terms used to discuss the topic you read. List them on your worksheet.
5. Be prepared to focus what you've learned into one main opinion that answers the Quest(ion) based on what you have learned from the links.
Use the Internet information linked below to complete the instructions listed above. Put all information on your worksheet.
You have all learned about a different part of puberty. Be prepared to discuss the answer to the Quest(ion) in class. Each of you will bring a certain viewpoint to the answer: some of you will agree and others disagree. You will use information, facts, opinions, etc. from the Web pages you explored to convince your classmates that your viewpoint is important and should be part of your class' answer to the main question. Your class should write out an answer that everyone in the classroom can live with.
Now's the time to put your learning into a letter you'll send to another 6th grader. You will give them advice on how to maintain a good self image while experiencing the changes of puberty. You will turn this letter into your teacher.
Your Contact is: the designated contact
Having come up with an answer to the main question, you should feel more comfortable and less anxious about the changes of puberty.
