A Taste of Burnt Hills Gives New Meaning to Delicious!

Our 7th annual "Taste of Burnt Hills" banquet was held on Monday, October 15th, in the Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake High School Cafeteria.  It was a delicious success!

This beautiful quilt, made by local artisan Peg Allocco, was raffled off to benefit the Foundation.  We are extremely grateful to Mrs. Allocco, who has donated one of her beautiful quilts for our raffle since the very first Taste of Burnt Hills.

The happy winner, pictured above, is a BH-BL parent
who bought her ticket at a Middle School Back to School night.

We would also like to thank the following area restaurants, each of which offered a special taste from their menus:

Augie's
Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake Food Service
Carney's
Marcella's
Sam's Chinese Restaurant & Buffet
Sonny's Pizzeria & Restaurant
Stewart's Stores
The Burnt Hills Cafe
The Factory
The Good Times Lakeview Restaurant
The Millstone Speakeasy
The Peking Wok
The Woodlin Club

Thanks, too, to our music makers of the night, the BH-BL High School Strings ensemble, and The Burnt Hills Community Melody Makers.  They added appreciably to our delightful evening.

The turn-out was great, and we thank you for your support of the foundation's mission -- to enhance education in our own BH-BL community.

Copies of "From Wilderness to Community" -- the history of the Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake Central School District -- are available locally for $10 at Mail 'n' More on Route 50, or can be mail-ordered for $12.25, which includes shipping.  Please direct your orders to Gina Longhurst at gmlonghurst@yahoo.com.

This well-illustrated volume includes stories and pictures from the earliest one-room schoolhouses to the present day.  You may see someone you know in its pages and you will certainly enjoy seeing the past come to life in the talented hands of its authors.

Printing of the book was underwritten by a grant from the BH-BL Education Foundation and the authors have designated the Foundation as the recipient of the proceeds.
