What We Do

    As a Board of Directors, we oversee the mission of this foundation to create new opportunities for education in our community.  Here’s why:

§    Our children are being asked to meet ever-higher academic standards and to master new skills that will prepare them for the challenges of the 21st century.

§    Each child learns in his or her own way, and the more kinds of learning tools and methods we can provide, the better we are able to help every child reach his or her potential.

§    District budgets are always straining to balance taxpayer support with limited state funding and ever-growing state and national mandates.

    We work to help bridge this gap, to provide the means by which our community can bring enrichment and innovation to its schools.  We believe that when we open doorways of opportunity for today's children, we create a brighter future for ourselves, our community, and our nation.

    Throughout the year, we generate funds through fundraising and community events.  We also manage contributions and endowments from a caring membership of community members and alumni.  Ongoing fundraisers include:

§    the sale of engraved bricks in the Senior High School courtyard;

§    note cards by a local artist depicting our district school buildings;

§    an annual Taste of Burnt Hills dinner, featuring local restaurants;

§    we are working toward establishing an annual golf tournament.  (Watch for news on our home page.)

     Twice each year, we disburse funds to our community’s schools.  Since funding our first grants in the summer of 2000, we have awarded over $30,000 in educationally enriching products and programs.  Refer to our Grants page for a complete listing of the nearly 50 grants we have funded over the years.
